Marrakech (Google Map)
Depart Marrakech in the morning by 4×4 car and drive to Ouarzazate. Travel through the magnificent High Atlas Mountains and drive the famous Tiginutika Pass (2260 m). In the scenic landscape, you have the opportunity to stop by and take pictures for a break. From here you can enjoy beautiful views of the fertile valleys and snow-capped mountains.
The first scheduled stop of the day is to visit the once glorious Kasbah of Algieu. Then drive from the beautiful scenery of the Ounira Valley to Ait Benhadukasba. Here you can have lunch at one of the many restaurants overlooking the Salad River. Then visit Kasbah with a local guide to learn about the rich history of the site.
Ait Benhaddou is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has filmed films such as Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia. In the afternoon, leave for Ouarzazate and spend the night in a full-fledged guesthouse.
After breakfast, head south to Agdes, the head of the Draa Valley, where you can visit Tamnougalt’s oldest Kasbah. At Tanashikto, a short distance south, turn east and follow a long drive from the Bani Mountains to the Dunes of Merzouga. Have lunch at N’Qob.
After that, you will pass through the villages of Tazarine, Arnif and Rissani in the movie “Babel” and arrive at the Zert in Merzouga. I drink tea there.
After a short sleep, head out for a camel trek, watch the sunset over the Elgchebi dunes, have a supper and spend the night in a nomadic tent.
If you get up early, you can see the sunrise, and the play of the colors and shadows of the dunes is a breathtaking sight.
It’s a camel to take a shower back at the hotel, and after breakfast, a trip to the Dougga Canyon via Erfoud is known for its dates and the October dates.
Erfoud is also known for its numerous fossils found locally. In the Toudgha Canyon, there are plenty of opportunities to walk, such as through the riverside gardens and on the way across the canyon. A beautiful guesthouse on the edge of the valley offers meals and evening breaks.
After breakfast, head north to Tantetusht and head to the mountains south of the famous city of Imilchil, where the wedding will take place in September.
The road here is particularly beautiful, but slow and windy. In winter, snow can be impassable. At lunch, we arrived at Lake Ben Elwidan (where the mountains fall into the water).
In the afternoon you can take a walk and enjoy the tranquility and greenery of the surroundings. Then head to Ouzoud Falls and arrive at the hotel late in the afternoon for dinner and evening.
After breakfast, you can visit the Ouzoud waterfalls, which constitute one of the most spectacular natural beauty spots in Morocco. The surrounding countryside offers red cliffs, oleander, and doves. If you are lucky you will catch a glimpse of some Barbary apes.
A short walk will bring you to the top of the falls from where you can see the river stretching away from the magnificent falls. On the road back to Marrakech at Demnate, we drive the six kilometres to Imi-n-Ifri, which in the local dialect means “door to the cave”.
It is a natural rock bridge formed by an underground cave system collapsing. Another three hours’ drive will bring you back to your hotel in the red city. You have had a wonderful 5 Days Desert Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga.
